Lil Nas X Takes to Twitter with Hilarious Fake Promos for New Single

With trademark humor, openly gay hip hop artist Lil Nas X is touting his upcoming single with fake partnerships – one with Grindr, one offering a meeting with the "homophobic dog" from the popular meme, and another promising that bibles will be handed out at a fast food chain, according to Vulture.

The single, titled "Late to Da Party," is a collaboration with YoungBoy Never Broke Again. News of the fake partnerships was posted with a real link to pre-save the single, Vulture noted, which drops June 24.

In one faux promo, Nas X "shared a very obviously fake announcement that he had teamed with Grindr to offer 'free cock' when people pre-save the YoungBoy-assisted track," Complex detailed.

That post was eventually followed by another that warned supplies were limited.

Another fake promotion "saw him team up with the homophobic dog meme," Complex added.

A third made fun of fast food in promising "a fake fat ass" for pre-saving the track, in partnership with "MacDonald's."

Nas X went even further, Vulture reported, playing up a fake feud with his collaborator and "including clips of him winning awards from other shows and his performance from last year's BET Awards, where he sang, 'Montero (Call Me by Your Name).'"

Others joined in on the joke, with one post purporting to offer a "free meal on Sundays" at Chik-fil-A – a chain that has not only funded anti-LGBTQ+ causes, but is famously closed on Sundays.

The promos follow last year's extended joke in which Nas X depicted the arrival of his debut album, "Montero," as a form of giving birth, including an image of himself with a prosthetic "pregnant belly."

Nas X also established a "baby registry" for "Montero" that raised money for HIV charities and other causes. As Complex put it, Nas X is "one of the few artists out to truly satirize how bizarre rollouts have gotten in the age of perpetual brand partnerships and TikTok hits."
