Diego Barros Balanced 4 Shampoo Bottles and the Internet Never Forgot
READ TIME: 3 MIN.
In 2022 EDGE interviewed OnlyFans star Diego Barros who at that time had just returned to the social media platform. His timing was right – the Pandemic created a moment when content creators who combine a personable cheekiness and, well, hung spectacle could succeed; and since then Barros became one of the adult social media sites most-watched performer. Within 8 months he was the first performer to make a million dollars on the site. The reason? His smooth moves, his smashing physique, and his enormous package.
His postings on other social media sites have been equally popular. With some two million followers on X, he falls in the 0.01% of the social media site's most followed contributors. On Instagram, he has some 1.2 followers. His break-out came in 2021 when he handily won the "Shampoo Challenge," a web contest that asked participants to balance shampoo bottles on their erect penis. Barros balanced four. "So which challenge is next?" he asked in the winning post.
When interviewed in 2022, the Brazilian-born self-described underwear model had been living in London for 14 years. Since then he has moved to New York City. Since then the "Magic Mike" of Brazil returned the career that first made him famous – go-go dancing. It was seeing the film "Striptease" with Demi Moore that led him to pursue go-go dancing. He also performed in musical theater, including "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Aladdin," where he played the titular character, and "Cats," in which he was Mungojerrie. In a 2023 interview with Metro Weekly, he was asked if his dick ever got in the way while in tight jumpsuit he wore in "Cats." "My dick?," he answered. "No, because back then I used to wear underwear. [Laughs.] "I don't really wear underwear anymore. I don't really like it. I like freeballing. Of course, I'm always wearing jeans so you can't really notice. But if I go to the gym, I always like my vests very long so you can't really see it. But not really, not really, because I used to wear underwear back then. But I used to have a big dick back then as well."
Back in Brazil, he was primarily straight, and moved to London with his girlfriend; but when she returned to Brazil for long stay, Barros decided to explore his sexuality. "I [realized], "Oh, you know what, things are more open here." And that's why I stayed. That's where I started my gay life, in London. But to be honest with you, I am LGBT, I stand up, but back then – now I'm so comfortable with my sexuality – but when I started dating guys, I used to be a little bit more low-profile. But now I'm 100 percent open."
His move to the States helped with his personal appearances, which have taken him to queer events throughout the country. One that he likely regrets was a booking in McAllen, Texas last year led to criminal charges being made against him. Watch the video above for the details of the alleged crime that led to Barros turning himself into the local police days after his appearance. As YouTube commentator Nico puts it, "while on stage Nico will make sure that your mouth is going to good use outside of cheering for his performance." The problem is that in Texas, dancers are not allowed to show their private parts, so most go-go boys in Texas must keep their underwear on. Supposedly the playful and sexy Baros did not.
