Watch: Teaser Drops for New Season of 'Hacks'

The hit comedy "Hacks," starring "Designing Women" alum and Broadway star Jean Smart and bisexual comedian Hannah Einbinder, is set to return to Max for Season 3. The new crop of nine episodes is slated to air all during the month of May. A new teaser just dropped to get fans in the mood.
"Following the two-episode premiere" on May 2, "Max will debut two more episodes of 'Hacks" weekly before debuting a single-episode season finale on May 30," Variety detailed.
The series focuses on Deborah Vance (Smart), a standup comedian trying to remain relevant in a changing world with the help of Ava Daniels (Einbinder), a writer from a younger generation. But it's a two-way street, as Deborah's life experience proves valuable to Ava.
"Set to Elton John's "I'm Still Standing,' the new footage sees Deborah Vance and her head writer Ava Daniels reuniting in Las Vegas, as the two face diverging pathways in the entertainment industry," Variety said.
In the teaser, Ava and Deborah have a chance encounter in an elevator and smile at each other in surprise. Later on in the clip, Ava warns Deborah that "Some of your more problematic material is gaining traction," to which Deborah responds in exasperation, "Okay, which minority group is upset?"
"I don't think 'minority' is the proper term anymore," Ava cautions.
Other snippers show Deborah vogueing in a fashion shoot, cutting a rug on a "Saturday Night Fever"-style dance floor, and walking a red carpet, while Ava is spotted crashing her car into the back of a school bus. A same-sex kiss between Ava and another woman is also included in a brief montage of lip locks.
The new season will feature "the return of regulars Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo and Lorenza Izzo," the writeup noted.
"Guest stars for the upcoming season include Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Bucatinsky, George Wallace and Tony Goldwyn."
Variety recalled that the show's first seasons netted Smart two Emmys, as well as landing a number of other awards and nominations.
