Timothée Chalamet's highly-anticipated turn as Willy Wonka has finally arrived with its first trailer, and it is as whimsical as you'd expect it to be.

As reported by Variety, Chalamet's star-studded supporting cast in the film includes, Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Keegan-Michael Key, Matthew Baynton, Matt Lucas, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Natasha Rothwell, Simon Farnaby, Paterson Joseph, Tom Davis, Rakhee Thakrar, Justin Edwards, Colin O'Brien, Ellie White, Freya Parker and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.

Based on the character in author Roald Dahl's 1964 children's novel "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," Chalamet is the film's titular "Wonka" who struggles to get a foothold in the candy-making business.

The film is described as a musical fantasy, much-like the original, but with a lot more special effects.

Hugh Grant in the "Wonka" trailer

In the trailer, we see Chalamet glide around light posts, daydream a flash mob and dance on tables. We also see how Wonka ended up saddled with Oompa-Loompas, with Hugh Grant transforming into one.

It's the origin story we didn't know we needed.

"'Wonka' is directed by Paul King, from a script he co-wrote with Simon Farnaby," Variety reports. "Michael Siegel and Alexandra Derbyshire executive produce, while Luke Kelly and David Heyman via Heyman Films serve as producers on the film."

An added bonus is that Chalamet revealed at a CinemaCon presentation that he actually swam in a pool of real melted chocolate for the film.

A chocolate-covered Timothée Chalamet? Yes, please! "Wonka" will hit theaters this year on Dec. 15. Watch the trailer below.
