The first official trailer for MGM's R-rated "Bottoms" has arrived, and it is the lesbian, Fight Club-esque summer film we didn't know we needed.

Starring Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri as two misfit lesbians who start a self-defense group in hopes of getting close to the popular girls, the first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival on March 11, reported Variety.

And since that debut, the film has received several favorable reviews, and the theatrical trailer offers a teaser as to why.

"The fight club gains traction and soon the most popular girls in school are beating each other up in the name of self-defense," according to the film's synopsis. "But PJ (Sennott) and Josie (Edebiri) find themselves in over their heads and in need of a way out before their plan is exposed."

Variety chief film critic Owen Gleiberman wrote that the comedy "has a teasing humanity that sneaks up on you." He also compared the film to Jamie Babbit's 1999 teen satire "But I'm a Cheerleader."

Director Emma Seligman reportedly co-wrote the screenplay with Sennott, who starred in the 2020 indie hit "Shiva Baby." And everyone loves Edebiri as the breakout star in "The Bear." Rounding out the cast of bottoms is Havana Rose Liu, Kaia Gerber, Nicholas Galitzine, Dagmara Dominczyk and Marshawn Lynch.

Catch "Bottoms" in select theaters Aug. 25. Until then, watch the trailer for the film below.
