Who Are the 'Click Boys' on WOW's New Doc Series About Adult Male Performers?
READ TIME: 6 MIN.
World of Wonder has dropped the first episode of "Click Boys," a new series that looks behind the lives of adult male sex workers with large gay fanbases.
The six-episode series, available at the World of Wonder site, "follows (five) LGBTQIA adult content creators who make their income through the internet subscription service OnlyFans," according to its press release. The series looks "behind the curtain to show the real life triumphs and struggles of our Click Boys as they make a healthy living. Discussing queer and cultural identity, body positivity, the business of sex work and sexual freedom, these boys reveal all – in more ways than one."
Pink News writes: "The series also sees the creators share details about their personal lives, what influenced their decision to do OnlyFans, and how it has affected their lives behind the scenes."
The series begins by focusing on Matthew Camp, who discusses how he found his way to liberating himself sexually and discusses his day-to-day as a sex worker.
In the trailer, he says: "COVID did help a little bit because Only Fans and sex workers... It all just exploded. Subscribers. Subscribers. Subscribers. You can make as much as the lawyer makes."
In a New York Times feature on sex workers and social media, Camp explained how he went from a go-go dancer making $1,000 a night to an OnlyFans contributor taking home $10,000 a month, even with less explicit content. "They want more intimate experiences. They want a boyfriend experience. They want to fantasize about someone that they want to have sex with and not feel disgusted by it."
He also discussed how the experience has led to his confidence in his choice. "When you come out, you're, like, so nervous about doing it, and you're, like, 'Oh my god, are people gonna judge me? What are they gonna think?' And then you realize, like, 'If they judge me, then who cares? They're not your friends, anyway.' I think it's one of the most empowering things that I've ever done. It cannot be emphasized enough what a powerful tool this is."
The show's second episode focuses on "proud Puerto Rican and self described 'short king' Brock Banks, who discusses sexual liberation, family life friction, and the joys of moonlighting as a drag queen," writes Pink News. "Just because we do this for work doesn't mean we are any different to who we were before. I want to spread love all over the world."
The remaining episodes feature Noah Way, Ty Mitchell, and Lance Charger.
Trans OnlyFans creator Noah Way says in the trailer: "I never considered myself particularly attractive, and I was surprised when other people viewed me that way."
Erotic artist Ty Mitchell addressed his anxiety about his career. "It always does feel as though it can all be stripped away. So it feels scary. Like, my abs don't get me health care."
Silver Daddy Lance Charger has a more positive spin, saying how his porn alter-ego (Lance) "has done for me [what] probably $10,000 with a therapy over a 20 year period. couldn't do for me."
The first episode of "Click Boys" is available on WOW Presents Plus now, with new episodes dropping weekly.
