Saturday February 29, 2020

WalletHub released its report on 2020's Best Frequent Flyer Program, which ranks the 10 largest domestic airlines based on 23 key metrics, ranging from the value of a point/mile to blackout dates for rewards flights.

The results revealed the following:

Delta SkyMiles is the best frequent flyer program for the fifth straight year.

The average airline rewards program gives frequent flyers up to 12 percent off their airline spending. And they're all free to join.

Alaska Airlines offers the most rewards value, at $20.23 per $100 spent. Hawaiian Airlines comes in second, with $16.20 per $100 spent.

Four of the 10 largest airlines are offering more rewards in 2020 than in 2019, sweetening the pot by an average of 14 percent.

Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways and Southwest Airlines are the only three major airlines whose miles do not expire because of inactivity.

Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Lufthansa Credit Card are 2020's best airline credit cards, according to WalletHub's editors.
